Are you for or against local oil drilling?

What are your reasons for being for or against it? Are you for or against local oil drilling?
I'm for it. Because its not doing any good in the groundAre you for or against local oil drilling?
I'm for drilling anywhere and everywhere as any sane and logical person should be. The democrats have stopped us from drilling and building refineries for decades. The Democrats are responsible for high gasoline prices and they want to keep them high.

Did you know the Chinese are drilling with Cuba not far from the Florida coast and getting the cheap oil that we here in the USA should be getting.

That's just one of the reasons I'm going to vote against every democrat on the ballot, and I used to think I was a democrat. .

And it will not take 5-10 years to get it on the market like the liberals are saying. It will affect prices almost immediately.

We went to the moon in a lot less time than that.
Seems like I';m the only one against it. Drilling an oil well, takes months, years to make a productive well. We need to press car companies and power companies to invest now in alternative fuels. This is the same argument in the 70s when there was the oil embargo. As soon as the 'crisis' was over, it was back to oil, oil, oil. We finally have the technology to supplement a homes energy, a cars mileage, a cars design, a companies need for oil within our grasp. Relying on a resource that will be gone in a decade or two (pick the number, it's a finite resource), seems an insult to the next generation.

...yes I am against it! Because it is not needed%26gt;the lies surrounding one of the biggest scams in our generations history is snakeoil-I mean oil. That black water is everywhere in the world and it is disgusting how the corporations use weather to up the price. They use war to up the price,in fact;they use lobbyist and now our President to up their prices to the point that they seriously hurt our way of life-our economy. SADDENED*TRUE story.
For it. The alternate energy technologies are decades away from being able to meet this country's requirements. And, the infrastructure changes required to adapt to new sources are equally as long term. We need to start now to ween ourselves from external dependencies.

I am also curious why the government doesn't see the domestic oil companies as ';partners'; in this effort, as opposed to, ';the enemy';. Most of the world's oil is controlled by foreign oil interests. Only the three big oil companies in the U.S can compete on that stage. They employ a lot of people and could employ more if the relationship was more mutually beneficial. They don't need tax breaks -- they just need support.
WIlling to consider, but pefer not to it. I'd like to know how it exactly it will bring prices down?

Best case scenerio, 5 years before it hits the market, which will happen after quickly developing counrties such as India and China will have added hundreds of thousands more vehicles on the road.

The supply/demand will still be disproportionately high for the US. Not enough to drop prices.

I think more focus should be placed on our demand - meaning the switch to alternatives.

As an Arizona resident, I can confirm that McCain has consistently blocked alternative energy development and higher fuel standards.

I know it's convenient and popular to say ';we want green power'; and ';drill to get gas prices down'; but there's so much more to it, and new drilling will barely impact real solutions that involve cutting demand by making alternative available and affordable.
Absolutely FOR it. The world runs on oil, whether or not the eco-nuts want to admit it or not. The more of our own oil we provide, the less we are dependent on foreign oil. So what if it takes 5 to 10 years to develop? If we don't start now, what are the naysayers going to say 10 years from now when the situation is twice as bad as it is today?

We should still pursue alternative energy sources, but those are NOT here today and will NEVER replace oil completely when they do become economically feasible. Just think of all the uses that oil is used for besides fuel. Clothing, plastics, building materials, fertilizers, road pavements, etc. It is even used in medicines and food production.

So let's put a well in Ted Kennedy's back yard and erect a refinery in Nancy Pelosi's basement and drill, baby, drill!
Conditionally OK with it. Conditions being that it is done responsibly with emphasis on protecting the environment.

I'm betting there would be little funding needed from the government as the oil companies typically take on the expense of exploration and bringing it to market. Don't really think they need additional tax breaks to encourage this.
Im all For it!!!! damn enviornmentalist is half the reason why this country is in the whole

BUt we cant just stop there we have to come up with alternative fuels

Look up what they have out there solar and electric natural gas are just 3 of the fuels they are experimenting with there are over a hundred other ways
For it so that we don't keep sending out $700 billion dollars a year to countries that don't like us...they only like our money. Let's keep it here. The less money that we send to some of these countries, the less money they have to support terrorism.

Alternative energy is great, and natural gas is a great bridge, but we need oil for at least another decade or two until either natural gas or alternatives are the norm.
For it. Did you know that according to the Washington post the United States only uses 3% of their own natural resources?

Enough of international imports! And enough of this attitude that says, ';Dear God. We are killing the trout and the polar bears if we drill!';

Let's drill in our country and drive down those gas prices! That's why our freedom was created; to have the liberty in making our own choices!
Most Americans are for it.

Most Americans have rebuked the left wing media and libs attempt to tell us what is best for us.

America needs to utilize every energy source for our future and most can see that with their own eyes.
It does nothing towards making us either energy independent nor does it result in the creation of very many new jobs.

Investing in alternative energy would dramatically increase manufacturing, lead us towards energy independence and help address climate change issues.
For it because it is the quickest short term solution to lowering gas prices.

Although I must add if this path is pursued, for Republican's sake, it better be done in the environmentally friendly way we've been hearing about.
I am for it because we need to stop being dependent on terrorist countries for oil. Once we start drilling the prices will go down and the economy will begin to get better.
drill, baby, drill. oil, natural gas, coal, solar, wind, every bit of energy we can get our hands on.

McCain/Palin '08

North and South Dakota has more oil then most OPEC countries, so whats the big deal of off shore drilling, lets get started
For it because then we don't have to deal as much with foreign oil cartels and also prices will go down.
For it. It's one step in the right direction for us to become energy independent.

For it. Because we need it.
for it, more oil is better
For it.
For!
For it
FOR IT!
For it. I'm sick of funding countries that mean to do the USA harm.

DRILL, BABY, DRILL!
For it! We need to keep our money here in our own country and stop giving it away to the middle east.
Against it. We should put our investment into other energy sources. Burning oil is causing global climate change. It will be our downfall.

We are killing ourselves with oil. We have to make the hard decision and stop this addiction. It will kill us.
I'm in favor of drilling.

I'm still voting Obama because I do not want to put another religious extremist in office.
I don't care one way or another because locally there is no oil in the ground.
