Has there ever been any kind of archaeological investigation of the caves left behind by oil drilling rigs?

Great question, but after the oil forces itself out under its own pressure, they usually pump in sea water to get the rest out ... leaving a big water filled sump rather than a void.

Also, many of the oil reserves are in shale - so it'd be more of a gravel sponge with no liquid in it than a cavern.Has there ever been any kind of archaeological investigation of the caves left behind by oil drilling rigs?
And what evidence of human activity do you think they'll find in prehistoric oil pockets that have been there for millions of years before man appeared?Has there ever been any kind of archaeological investigation of the caves left behind by oil drilling rigs?
wait a minute, folks,..prehistoric, billions of years, please do not type that you believe the evolution poor excuse for a theory,..man walked with 'dinosaurs'/giant reptiles,..even nova was there at a dig site but being evolutionaries they did not report properly,..look up dr carl baugh,..life does not come from non-life chemical reactions,..believe it or not there is a creator,..but as far as the question is concerned idk but if a dig is to occur then we should have creation and evolution scientists work together on the dig so that our tax dollars are being spent properly, and lets have live coverage,..just be prepared to get into the publishing and writing industry,..

Oil wells do not cause caves. Oil is pumped from porous rock, shale or sand. so there are no caverns left behind. Also, as another posted said. Brine is often pumped into the ground to replace the oil taken out. This results in more oil being forced out of the well.
Most of the worlds oil was formed during the carboniferous period 365 million years ago. I don't think there has been an investigation because there is no need for one, and also how would you dig down that far to investigate.
Oil drilling rigs go DEEP. They would normally blast right through any near surface voids (caves) which may have been habitable for humans.
