Does it bother anyone that China and Cuba are drilling oil 50 miles off of our Florida shores?

They will be barreling what could have been our oil. We will most likely find a way to buy it from them directly or indirectly. In the mean time, our costs are rising as a result of the price of fuel. Please do not address our dependence on oil, we have been and will be for many years to come.Does it bother anyone that China and Cuba are drilling oil 50 miles off of our Florida shores?
Yes. Thank the Democrats who wont let us drill or even explore there.Does it bother anyone that China and Cuba are drilling oil 50 miles off of our Florida shores?
I think you are hysterical and buying into hysterical hype.

From what I have read in geological surveys, that oil is heavy, low grade crude, and it's in an area belonging to Cuba and where we agreed they have mineral rights .

When you consider how long and hard Governor Bush lobbied to prevent drilling because of fear it could harm the reefs around Florida, I suppose he and Florida residents might be justifiably concerned about how things are done, but other than that....
Cuban shores are a bit farther than that. Not much, but a little. If we would have used a little more diplomacy rather than the right-wing stance toward Cuba, it would be US companies drilling off the coasts of Cuba, not China.

Don't blame this on Democrats. They have been crying about using diplomacy and patching things up with Cuba for a long long time.

Right-wingers always getting what they want, and then crying about it being the dems fault later down the road, not a surprise.
I think Cuba's about 90 miles from Florida, so I'm guessing that water 50 miles from Florida and 40 miles from Cuba likely belongs to Cuba. It's their's to drill, and it's their's to let China drill if they so choose. No, I'm not bothered that Cuba drills in it's own water.
Oh, the geopolitical balance which controls oil consumption and drilling... sure, it's odd, but remember, we are drilling all over the world in places where the oil could have been ';their'; oil. But the governments consent, and the oil lords make great fortunes off of fulfilling our thirsts while the average people feel little benefit from their lucrative oil economy. How we're exploiting the vast majority of the world's oil is the worrisome thing.

Also, the U.S. executive branch and the Congress has shown extreme willingness to preserve American oil interest, putting oil contracts, etc. under review so that American oil and geopolitical interests can be met, although I forget the company battled for in that particular interest (a Chinese company was bidding for it; that was blocked, and the U.S. company got it).

Also, sorry, but only a shortage will really force us into change. If other countries are getting it to use it, we probably won't get it ';indirectly';...
Yes -- and it's the best opportunity we'll ever have to shove a mailed fist up the backsides of two countries that need it badly.

Neither one would do a thing if we just ran them off the platforms and took them over. And in the case of Cuba, it's a fitting response to their theft of American assets in Cuba.

Democrats, of course, would wet their pants and positively fall into a swoon at the very idea.

Which is why they're the party of Appeasement and Cowardice .... (think: Jimmy Carter %26amp; Slick Willie)
YES! I have written my Congressman and both Senators strongly expressing my views. You can do the same on the internet. Write and voice your opinion. Drill here Drill NOW!
Correction: They are drilling off the coast of Cuba, imperialist.
Great Point!..This is a fine example of the plague of the Environmental Nazis..Fools with no science and a bizarre agenda..'We the People' suffer for their twisted Politics.
Dems don't care about Americans suffering.
Give it up. This urban myth has been disproved.
Yes it does, the blame is on the dumb %%s cool aid socialist. (never trust a senator with a bow tie)
YES...Link please
It's not in US waters, and we don't own the hemisphere, much as we like to think we do.

We should send a submarine out there to torpedo the oil platforms and then blame it on the Chinks.
