Why didn't the Republicans pass new oil drilling laws when they had the Presidency and Congress?

Is it because they created the ';War On American Economy'; instead of doing then what they're talking now?Why didn't the Republicans pass new oil drilling laws when they had the Presidency and Congress?
Why, indeed. I think it is so they can now point the finger at the 'Liberals' for the high cost of gas.

Leggy-er blond, sorry but George Bush's Dad signed that ant-drilling order, look it up. And guess what else, W. just signed the extension. Why didn't the Republicans pass new oil drilling laws when they had the Presidency and Congress?
whatever they did in hopes to profit, this time it backfired---they allowed predatory lending in the mortgage business, they allow credit card companies to charge you an arm and a leg(did you know that Bank of America charges almost 65% interest for cash advances?), they allowed all these big businesses to profit on the backs of the hardworking people---and they didn't care about the dollar, just printing more and more---so now we are in a huge crunch. They thought that all was fine, oil wasn't going that high over night, it just went a little here and a little there before the big jump in price.....adn so they didn't see any reason to do anything about any drililing rights......because see, 98% of those who do Washington, also have their fingers in big business....tell me of one legislator or senator who has no money.....
Because they hadn't f*cked up the economy yet.

That's the problem with our government and this administration in particular; they almost always fail to predict fairly predictable consequences to the plans they implement, though they failed before (they use the same ideas every time). Because of this, we continually step into some of the stupidest situations (the same ones we stepped into before).

They are attempting to deal with consequences they created, but never actually had to come about if they had simply paid attention to the past.
Because it takes time to create a climate of despair and lost hope and now is a great opportunity to start drilling. Also don't forget that Iraq was invaded for the oil and it seems that the moment has come to take advantage of our military presence there and we just might get it. It seems kind of sad that we had to lose so many young combat men/women in our efforts to overcome the people of Iraq and that it cost so much of the taxpayers money to get at the oil reserves. I suppose we'll still have to repair the infrastructure of the country before we leave. Anyway, we get the oil and everyone's happy. OK?

thanks
Democrat Filibusters in the Senate. FACT.

Listen to the Democrat Leaders today about gasoline prices!

Listen to their Democrat operatives in TIME magazine.

They want working class people to pay 10.00 a gallon gas to feed their environmental wacko extremist! They love the caribou more than human lives!

THROW THE BUMS OUT OF CONGRESS!
Gas was cheap then and the issue was not on anybodies radar. They did try to open up drilling and more refineries during Clinton's time but he vetoed it. I'm not bashing him for it. No one really thought that far ahead during the 90's because the economy was going gang busters do to the dot com boom.
This is off topic, I know and in fact my first time at this site and I am already noticing a pattern. Why is it that the posters whom are obviously republican... or would a better phrase be.... ';anti-democrats';, are being so condescending and frankly rude. So, unless you want the rest of us ';tree huggers'; to assume that all republicans must have some sort of irritate personality trait that constitutes you being Republican... be nice. Cuz, gee, I don't know... I really don't think that the Republican's don't really have a whole lot to brag about right now either!
Yep, they tried.

(You don't keep up with the News, eh?)

There were still enough Democrats in Congress to ban Drilling.

Clinton Vetoed the Bill to Drill in Anwr.

Democrats want the Chinese to Drill Off Shore.

And we can then buy Oil from China.

Cool, eh?
Because they had to have someone to blame the worlds problems on.

Alot of the things that are going on now were going on before Mr. Bush was in office.

I may not agree with all that he's done, but I still support him because he's my president.
Clinton passed a law not allowing it in ANWR in 1995.

It was not needed, as India %26amp; China were not as industrialized as they are today: supply %26amp; demand.

Simple economics 101 so gimme a thumbs down if you failed or never took the course.
Imposing taxes and regulation on the oil industry will only tighten the noose. Republicans promote the free market and supply side economics.
The problem is that there are too many moderates and all democrats opposed it. Nice try but the fault lies obviously on the democrats and mushy republicans (i.e John McCain)
Too busy trying to invade the middle east to steal their oil.
Reps only know how to do 2 things; screw up and B**ch
They are quite capable of blowing it,
they tried.never passed because of a election year then the war in iraq.
I think they did it on purpose. They wanted gas prices to go up.
I'll type slowly for you It was cheap OK now go vote for Obama
