Has McCain now lost Florida because of oil drilling?

A new poll has Obama ahead in Florida now and Gov. Charlie Christ popularity has plummeted.

This issue will cost McCain Florida for sure. Barr is the only vote for a true republican.Has McCain now lost Florida because of oil drilling?
McCain has flip-flopped on this already and it looks like he is doing it again. Originally he wanted to protect the coastlines, then he wanted to force them to open them up, including Florida and California. He is on damage control now and he is turning around and saying that they states will be able to decide. Fact is, the states already decide on drilling going out 3 miles off the coast now and can block further out in most cases. There is no ban in place. Also add to that any new drilling would not produce anything for at least 5 years or so.

Just wait a few days and McCain will be against it again.

Annie W, Obama didn't say that he didn't need Florida and I think you meant Michigan.Has McCain now lost Florida because of oil drilling?
Actually, Wally, Obama and his camp have stated that they don't believe they need Florida or Ohio to win the election. I didn't mean Michigan. Try looking it up. Report Abuse

No;because he left it up to the states.

Here China is slant drilling American oil off the coast of Florida closer than the Democrats (make the middle class suffer so we can socialize oil and control them) allow.

It's not just oil, they don't want oil, coal, nuclear, innovations or tax credits, they just want to screw the middle class.

Barr is pointless, why are you wasting your time?
...and this is coming from someone who lives where? I live in Boca Raton, Florida and I don't know what news media you are listening to, but our Gov. is still popular as ever.

Regarding McCain, he said he would lift the ban and allow STATES TO VOTE INDIVIDUALLY ON WHETHER THEY'D WANT TO DRILL OF THEIR SHORE!
People are pretty stupid these days and blindly follow ';passionate'; movements that are marketed to them. (Like ';change';.)

It's likely they will be affected by all the commotion created by the environmental lobby over this (even if it isn't true). It's also likely this will hurt McCain in the general election unless there is an effective campaign to debunk the charges. It would have to reach the masses though (i.e., be advertised on Fox during American Idol or something.)

Pushing for Barr is useless for this election and will further hurt McCain, but if it makes you feel good because he represents your crazy far right politics ... go for it.

For the record, while Barr might be the ';true republican'; by today's warped definition, McCain has acted as the epitome of a ';classic political conservative'; that is all but dead in 2-party politics land. Real conservatives understand change must come, so they don't try to stop it or roll things backward, instead they seek to control it and shepard it so that the best good that they can possibly get out of it comes while minimizing the bad.

Take immigration as an example. You cannot stop illegal immigration at our borders. The building of those stupid walls looks a lot like those levy's that are breaking and causing so many problems along the Mississippi. Not only are we wasting money turning our borders into a militarized zone, but we're going to cause a lot of problems down stream.

Moderate security at the borders is warranted, but we should probably learn to deal with the presence of illegal aliens (read as ';more low wage earners which help US keep our quality of life artifically high';) in a positive way by coming up with ways to tax the companies that use low wage earners withou medical insurance to offset the impact to the local infrastructure. Keeping it local means ';there's a choice';.

However, if you choose incorrectly ... NO WHINING!
I can not believe that people still think that drilling more will cure the gas price at the pump.

Why is this issue coming up? Sure lets go drill now for oil so we can have a better price in 2015. Who cares if we damage the environment anymore.

hmm..I am starting to sound like I belong in Greenpeace or something.
man, ii don't care where he comes from , but he will do the right thing for the People in America and could give a rats *** about the White House. If we start thinking about us instead of all these other country's we will be alot better off. and if the a arabs want to sell the oil to the chiniese, then we should stop selling them food and see how they like living on rice 3 times a day.!
The most recent poll I could find for Florida was June 30th which shows McCain with 48% and Obama with 41%. I don't think it will cost him Florida, I think it will make it closer than it would have been though.
I think more people are for drilling our own oil than you realize, and many people are intelligent enough to know that the 'environmental danger' is NOT from drilling, it's from transporting...We already transport tons of oil by tanker every day.
You really can't believe that Obama is going to win Florida, after not wanting their votes to count, and recently stating he doesn't need Ohio or Florida to win the election in November. ***
certainly not. there are enough WORKING americans who understand the problems with this issue to counteract the liberals who dont.
A vote for Barr is a vote for Obama, as everybody knows.
No he hasn't.

Bub Barr is selling shoes for Goodwill, the only true thrift store shoe salesman.
