Less dependence on foreign oil raises our gpp (gross domestic product) also lowering our massive debt - having a large part invested in foreign oil does not help that.
Safer to drill for US companies in the US versus foreign contries.. safety in times of war is nice.
You dont have to worry about the russians either bc Sarah Palin does business with them all the time.
There already is a pipeline so there would be no shipping costs to transport the oil either.. or the costs would be relatively low.
