Offshore drilling is the most ineffective, inefficient, and expensive method of getting oil. When it is in full swing, it will produce a drop of gasoline for every gallon poured. What does Bush have to say about this?
“I readily concede it won’t produce a barrel of oil tomorrow, but it will reverse the psychology”
-Bush on offshore drilling, July 15th 2008
http://officeofstrategicinfluence.com/bl…Is offshore oil drilling a threat to the natural environment?
Actually, ';global warming'; does not exist. The earth has been cooling for the past 8-10 years. It was warming in the 1980's and 1990's due to an increase in solar flares produced by the sun. Those slowed back to their normal rate in the late 1990's, and the earth subsequently cooled off.
Drilling poses no significant impact, and I can't for the life of me figure out what that has to do with global warming. In fact, when drilling was started in Alaska, the caribou population in the area continued to increase.
Besides, the only way to stop producing any kind of waste or impact on the earth would be to kill yourself. And I'm not about to stop any crazy left-winger from doing that to help ';fight global warming.';Is offshore oil drilling a threat to the natural environment?
Global warming is a hoax. Politicians and media talking heads have alternately accused people of causing global cooling and global warming and most recently the neutral global climate change. There is already a lot of offshore oil and gas drilling, the U.S. is not the only country with coastlines. If U.S. politicians allow American companies to join other companies in offshore drilling for oil and gas that will not effect ';global warming';, if successful increased supply of oil and gas would lower costs. If anyone can ever prove global warming, there isn't any proof, it will not be base on drilling for oil, it will be based on finally being able to measure accurately the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, the atmosphere as a whole must first be accurately measured, and then they must prove that the amount of CO2 produced by people throughout our entire history is not less than but greater than the margin for error, for example.
No!
It is not a given that mankind is responsible for global warming. In fact, as time goes on it appears more likely that global warming is a natural phenomenon. 30,000 scientists recently endorsed a letter in which they say that global warming , if it is even occuring, is not man made.
Not drilling offshore is a far greater threat to this nation, and the world, than is Global warming.
Not at all.
Drilling of all kinds is so technologically advanced now that it could be done in your back yard. In fact, it is being done in some suburban back yards in Texas where old old fields have now become profitable again because of advances in recovery methods.
Hurricanes, including the Cat 4 Katrina, have moved right over offshore platforms without spilling or any other environmental damage.
Some of the very best deep-sea fishing is near the platforms in the Western Gulf of Mexico. You can fill you ice chest in no time or spend longer waiting for those big strikes.
There are pumps right in the middle of agricultural fields all over the Gulf Coast region.
Directional drilling is so advanced now that a single small work area less than one acre in size can drill for miles in many directions leaving virtually no footprint at all.
Over the next ridge, you wouldn't even know the workers were there - except for the money they provide to the local economy.
You do know how many 100s of 1000s of new jobs offshore drilling will create, don't you?
Somewhere between 500,000 and 750,000.
Great for the economy, our energy independence and America.
NO thanks to the Democrats who have been blocking it all these years.
There are many environmentalist (particularly their rich lawyers looking to get richer) that would say so, but the fact is oil rigs off shore produce valuable habitat for underwater sea life. They survived Katrina without serious damage to the environment, and cutting ourselves off from necessary energy supplies is not going to save us from global warming.
No offshore drilling is not a threat. Drilling is a threat. It keeps us dependent on a resource that will dry up. Instead of trying to get blood out of a rock lets find some other means, (means that do not dry up) to get our energy. We need someone with a vision of the future and common sense. Unfortuantly what we got was Bush and we are are grandchildren will pay for that mistake for years to come.
ANOTHER LIBERAL MYTH.
MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING IS A THEORY AND MYTH. ARE THERE MEN CAUSING GLOBAL WARMING ON MARS?
Remember Global Cooling in the 70s? The naive have amnesia.
No, it is not.
As long as it is done by GWB Company.
History and Environmental Reports written by Patriotic Money loving ..........!!!
Much less of a threat than the mushrooming human population. The Malthusian nightmare is upon us at last.
We've been drilling for decades in the Gulf without a problem. It can be done safely.
It is a threat but i can think of ten other things that would be worse
Not any more than any other source.
NO
damn all that My SUV needs cheap gas!!!
