That and more, as a new generation of cars is coming; also there exist the possibility for some in the right climate to be totally energy independent. We need fresh ideas and not the best status quo money can buy. Obama offers that change in business as usual. Before we get to that level some democratic want to protect some areas of the country while opening additional acres for drilling. Personally hope they do taxing mechanism that will keep gas a 4.00 a gallon, and in short term use the strategic reserve to keep it from going higher. As solar cells supply energy for direct use and to hydrogen cells for future use some demand comes down. As cars trucks and train engine powered by natural gas become the norm crude oil will become the next whale oil. We need creative leadership, and not cash deep lobbyist. Mcsame or start to oil obsoletes .Obama 08. Thing will not change for generations, but change can happen, or you can bore another four years into oil stock dividends.
Did you know that the oil companies already have drilling rights on 60 million acres that they aren't drilling yet? You own the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, you own the offshore sites that the oil companies want to drill. Why would you want to give all that away to people who are robbing you every day? They are already obscenely wealthy, they do nothing but rob you, why do you love the oil companies so much?
Well I don't know about all Democrats, but the speaker definitely is and has stated this publicly. The answer is the same as in all things political. If an issue is important to you take the time to learn where your representatives and senators actually stand on the issue then vote accordingly.

New drilling is a red herring.


Oil companies are developing profitable fields as hard and fast as they can. You know all those big profits that are being complained about? Those didn't come from sitting on produceable reserves.





And anyway, why are we so interested in making it easier for big multinational companies to tap out oil around North America. The smarter thing for government leaders to be doing is setting the pace for getting us weaned off petroleum!
Lifting the moratorium on off-shore drilling does NOTHING right now. In fact, IF the oil companies actually get to work drilling(they haven't drilled much of the land they're already leasing for that purpose) AND we had enough refineries to handle the increased influx of oil(we don't), you'd pay a few cents less for gas....in ten years. Off-shore drilling isn't the answer. Charting a new course for the future is.
Do some reasearch, listen to ppl, even JOHN McCAIN said it will only be a psychological effect to drill offshore. We would not see an effect for some 10 years and it will be 1% of the oil that we would be using at the rate we are going and the cost savings is only PENNIES!





They have 68 Million Acres of land that they could drill on now. They want ppl to pressure congress to give them more land to drill on. TO SIT ON AND RISE THE PRICES.





GOOGLE OPEC. THEY HAVE STATED THAT BUSH'S ADMINISTRATION IS THE REASON THAT THE OIL IS UP SO HIGH!





GOP IS ONLY FOR 5% OF AMERICA they use the rest to get them in power and it is evident they do not care for us or our country.





THE NATIONAL DEBT: Why because of a war, dishonorable war, low taxes on the rich and corporations.





WEAK DOLLAR: KEEPING THE INTEREST RATES LOW!





EACH TIME OUR ECONOMY GETS STRONG THE GOP PLAYS ON THE GREEDINESS OF AMERICANS AND GET ELECTED IN THEN THEY RAPE OUR COUNTRY!





EACH TIME THEY LEAVE US WITH A NATIONAL DEBT. THIS TIME IN THE TRILLIONS.





WHAT HAVE WE GOTTON OUT OF IT? INFLATION, RECESSION AND AT ANY OTHER TIME THIS WOULD BE CALLED A DEPRESSION. TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH SOON IF THE UNEMPLOYMENT GETS WORSE. YOU WILL SEE THAT TOO. UNLESS CHINA COMES IN AND TAKE WHAT WE OWE THEM.






Gee under the present administration oil has gone up 300% housing value has gone down 30 to 60%. So it makes perfect sense ton vote that same party in so oil can go up another 300% and housing can drop another 30 to 60%. Wake up people.
So why did Republicans consistently vote against getting oil out of the strategic reserve which has shown in the past to lower gas prices??





Hmmm? Who the do the Republicans work for when they constantly are supporting big oil's profits?
No.


The answer to oil problems is change our fuel source, not drill more.


Think about Al Gore's challenge to change to clean energy within 10 years.


Vote for someone that's going to do that.

Drilling is nothing but a gimmick that will not solve the underlying problem that is an addiction to oil.
I am so sick of the words ';change'; and ';hope';. These words have lost all meaning. Give me some substance, please.
