Since when did drilling for oil become something we care about?

I mean we had one party in control of all 3 branches of government from 2000-2006. Why weren't all these drilling bans removed then?Since when did drilling for oil become something we care about?
As long as the Commodities Futures Modernization Act goes unchanged nothing anyone does will matter. You can drill your little hearts out and completely destroy the environment, but nothing will change as long as speculators are allowed to run amok.

Simply adding the words ';and energy'; to the Commodities Futures Modernization Act would bring gas prices down overnight.

80% of all known oil off the continental shelf of the United States have already been granted permits to drill, but those that would do the drilling are sitting on those permits. Ask yourself why.Since when did drilling for oil become something we care about?
Not quite.

Legislation is always a compromise. A great example is the civil rights bill. For over a hundred years the Democrats blocked reasonable civil rights bills. As bad as it sounds the assassination of JFK was probably the best thing to happen for civil rights because Democrats were guilted into voting for the civil rights bill by Bobby Kennedy.

Bobby Kennedy was primarily influenced to become an advocate for civil rights by a document called ';we charge genocide'; that was presented to the UN in 1951.

If the Democrats hadn't been guilted into voting for the civil rights bill it would have died once again.

The bans on drilling were not removed because the congressional compromise wasn't there.

You should spend more time reading about how things work in congress as opposed to listening to propaganda.
Ummmm could have something to do with the fact the party that has been in power all this time is the party that is making the most $$$ off the high oil prices and the war.

On top of that the reality is if they were to lift the ban tomorrow, it'll be at least 10 years before any drilling will take place, so it's a false hope.

The real question is, why the heck aren't we un-capping the wells that have already been drilled and oil found here in the USA that we capped years ago when Mid-East oil was cheaper to purchase? The oil is still there, the wells have been drilled, all we have to do is unlock the freaking caps!

Gee, but that just makes too much freakin sense now doesn't it?
Since when did drilling for oil become something we care about?

When gas hit $4 a gallon.
The real possibility of $8 a gallon gas by 2009.
When the choice became filling the gas tank or eating.
Why? Well, to make more $$$ for their buddies and/or lobbyists. I can't see another reason
since gas prices are high

hugs!
