please someone help me with info/ref regarding the fundamentals of drilling. Specifically, I'd like to know the process of drilling, well logging, open hole tools, cased hole tools, their difference, etc.In drilling oil well, at what point is the open hole cased?

check out schlumberger.org (I think) lots of definitions also lots of info on the web. I do this for a living, but am not going to give you a tutorial - you can spend a bit of time and do your own research.
