Maybe because they realize that the two are mutually exclusive, ie more drilling doesn't necessarily mean lower prices. There are a lot more factors to take into account. You know that the gas you use in your car isn't just pumped out of the ground, right? there are other factors that contribute to the prices, including the speculation the smart man above me mentioned. Maybe you should study the situation a bit more before you open your mouth and look foolish.





Drilling has nothing to do with national defense. Are you that blinded that you can't even objectively look at the situation.

I don't know if you've checked in with the news for the last month and a half, but the price of oil if half what it was then.





It's called speculation. You know? That's why the price was high.





When the banks finally crapped in their own bed 1 time too many, the speculators had to go hide for a while. And the price came down.





It had nothing to do with any lack of drilling.





And national defense has nothing to do with burning every drop of domestic oil we can get in upholstered farm equipment, so gluttons like yourself can ride SUVs to burger king.





National defense is about conserving our domestic supplies. In case we might actually need them someday. For defense.






France gets 90% of their electricity from nuclear power. And they've never had a problem with their reactors. Perhaps we should be doing that.





Iraq has tripled their proven oil reserves to 350 billion barrels. They now have more oil than Saudi Arabia. That's enough oil to supply the entire world for 10 years. The world has plenty of oil now. That's one reason why oil is so cheap.

Because oil drilling in sanctuaries will have zero effect on domestic oil prices. Gas prices are largely set by a cartel, a setup which, if it were based here in the US, would be illegal.
